Panama and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that brings significant benefits for ships registered under the Panamanian flag. This agreement, signed between the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) and the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, aims to establish a framework for collaboration to develop the “Blue Pass” project. This project seeks to integrate key players in the UAE maritime industry, offering various privileges and facilities to shipping companies and shipowners visiting their ports.
Benefits for Panamanian-registered ships include priority entry and exit at ports, crew change facilities, and discounts on auxiliary services from companies listed in the Blue Pass program database. Additionally, these ships will have access to a shared database that allows direct contact with suppliers and access to discounts.
This agreement reflects the strengthening of bilateral relations between Panama and the UAE and is expected to further boost investments and maritime trade between the two countries.
