Every July 1st, Mexico proudly celebrates National Engineer’s Day—a date that pays tribute to the men and women whose technical and creative work drives the country’s development. This official commemoration was established in 1973 at the initiative of then-Secretary of Communications and Transportation, Eugenio Méndez Docurro.
The date was chosen to mark the issuance of the Royal Decree in 1776, which founded the Royal Mining Tribunal and the Royal School of Mines, where the first engineering study programs in the Americas were born.
